According to the official website of the General Administration of Customs on January 3, 2019 and the Nutrition Composition Network on December 19, Belgian food agencies updated the relevant guidelines, thus new maximum values for the use of caffeine, lutein, lycopene and red rice in food supplements has been regulated. Belgium believes that the maximum amount of caffeine in supplements is 80 mg/day, lutein is 2-10 mg/day and lycopene is 2.5-15 mg/day. For Monacolin K from Monascus rice (or other sources), the maximum permissible limit of Monacolin K is 10 mg/day. Monacolin K content should be standardized (maximum deviation of 10%).
