The Rosselkhoznadzor has destroyed 12 tonnes of Ukrainian strawberries after checks were carried out on a shipment transported to Russia via Belarus under the guise of Serbian products.

"The batch, travelling from Belarus to Russia, was accompanied by a Belarusian phytosanitary certificate, in which the place of origin was declared to be the Republic of Serbia. After carrying out an inspection of the cargo, numerous traces of a  breakdown in labels were detected on the packaging of the goods, as well as fragments of labels with information about the origin: Ukraine," said the Office of Rosselkhoznadzor for the Tver and Pskov regions in a statement.

It was noted that, in compliance with the quarantine regulations, the batch of Ukrainian goods was to be destroyed.

Furthermore, Russian officials destroyed about a tonne of "quarantine" Polish apples. These, as noted by the department, were imported without the necessary phytosanitary documents.
