Veg prices see decline in Bangladesh

The prices of local onion varieties declined to Tk 60-70 per kilo from Tk 70-80 per kilo. Imported onions from Turkey, Pakistan, Myanmar and India were selling at Tk 45-55 per kilo from Tk 55-65 per kilo. Imported varieties were traded at Tk 32-38 per kilo at wholesale markets.

Early winter leafy vegetables were in the market but at a higher cost. A small bunch of mustard leaf and spinach is selling for Tk 20-30 per kilo. Coriander leaf is currently selling at Tk 280-300 per kilo. Only papaya, colocasia crops and potatoes were selling below Tk 50 per kilo in the market.

Chilli prices increased from Tk 160-200 to Tk 180-240, whilst ginger prices have showed a decline of Tk 10-15 per kilo, as it used to be sold for Tk 80-90 (local) and Tk 90-100 (imported) per kilo.
